The All Progressives Congress has disqualified several House of Representatives aspirants from participating in its forthcoming National Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party released the names of aspirants marked “not cleared” across Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states following the conclusion of its screening exercise.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party said the exercise was conducted in accordance with its laid-down guidelines and procedures for aspirants seeking tickets for various federal constituencies.

Among those affected in Ondo State were former lawmakers and political figures contesting in different constituencies. Those listed as not cleared included Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo for Akoko South-East/South-West, as well as Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.

Others from the state were Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi and Olaleye John Adedipe, all seeking to contest for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency.

In Bauchi State, Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello was disqualified from the race for Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, while in Ebonyi State, Hon. Idu Igariwe was not cleared for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency.

The party also barred Sanni Salau Ogembe from contesting the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency seat in Kogi State.

In Rivers State, the list of affected aspirants included retired Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara for Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki for Okrika/Ogu-Bolo, Awaji Imombek D. Abirite for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro and former lawmaker, Hon. Boma Goodhead, for Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency.

The APC, however, did not state the reasons behind the disqualification of the aspirants.

Meanwhile, in Katsina State, Jamila Mani, Special Assistant on Girl Child Education and Development to Governor Dikko Radda, emerged winner of the APC primary election for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency.

In Adamawa State, the party’s direct primary election for House of Representatives seats recorded setbacks in some areas following the absence of officials expected to supervise the exercise.

Party members in Girei, Yola North and Yola South reportedly waited for several hours without any official communication regarding the commencement of the primaries.

The APC is currently conducting internal party processes as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
