The Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area in Kano State, Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, has ordered the temporary closure of Al-Hadeed Private School following allegations of misconduct involving some pupils.
The action followed the arraignment of a teacher identified as Uncle Kamal before a magistrate’s court over allegations concerning four underage pupils of the school.
The council chairman said the closure would remain in place pending the outcome of investigations and legal proceedings.
Bilyaminu stated that the local government remained committed to protecting children and ensuring that anyone found guilty of violating their rights would face legal consequences.
The teacher was brought before the court on Monday over allegations involving three seven-year-old girls — Hassana, Hussaina and Gambo — as well as their five-year-old sister.
During the proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Badamasi Gandu, told the court that medical evaluations had been conducted on the children before the suspect was charged.
The court subsequently ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional facility pending further hearing in the case.
The matter was adjourned until June 6 for continuation of proceedings.
