A 58-year-old man, Ajayi Amos, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged theft of 60 kegs of palm oil valued at N3 million.
The defendant was brought before the court on charges bordering on burglary and stealing, following allegations that he and others still at large broke into a warehouse belonging to YSJ Limited in Ikere-Ekiti and carted away the items.
Prosecuting counsel, Assistant Superintendent of Police Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the alleged incident occurred on May 16, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m. at the YSJ store premises in Ikere-Ekiti.
He further informed the court that the offence contravenes Sections 421, 324(1)(2), and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Presiding Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was subsequently adjourned to June 22, 2026, for hearing.
