Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party and emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Gombe State ahead of the next election.
Pantami was declared winner of the party’s primary election held on Tuesday after emerging as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
His emergence was affirmed through a voice vote conducted by delegates and party members during the exercise.
Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong, subsequently announced Pantami as the duly elected governorship candidate of the party.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest the governorship seat was driven by his desire to serve the people of the state and contribute to its development.
The former minister pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on justice, fairness and equal opportunities for all residents of the state if elected.
