Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of the state.

The appointment, which takes effect from June 6, 2026, was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Odusanya succeeds Mr Bayo Philips, who retired from the state public service after attaining the mandatory retirement age.

According to the statement, Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to Philips for his contributions to the growth and development of Ondo State during his years in service and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The governor also charged the new Head of Service to deploy his vast administrative experience towards enhancing service delivery and advancing the objectives of his administration.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the new Head of Service to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the service towards driving the OUR EASE agenda to the desired destination,” the statement read.

Odusanya, born on February 6, 1967, attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School for his primary and secondary education between 1972 and 1983.

He later obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989. He subsequently earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992 and later obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.

The new Head of Service joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and rose through the ranks before being appointed a Permanent Secretary in 2019.

During his career, he served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. Until his latest appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Odusanya also currently serves as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.

A fellow of several professional bodies, he holds fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration.

He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.
