Three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps have been killed in a suspected bandit attack along the Tsamiya–Illo Road in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The officers were reportedly carrying out official duties when they came under attack from armed men believed to be bandits.

According to security sources, the assailants ambushed the officials on the highway.

The officers reportedly attempted to escape after spotting the gunmen, but were pursued by the attackers, who were said to be riding motorcycles.

The gunmen allegedly opened fire on the officers, killing all three at the scene.

The deceased were identified as Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant Umar Aliyu, Senior Road Marshal Assistant Ezra Manu Gona, and Road Marshal Assistant I Mansur Ibrahim Nasir.

The incident was said to have heightened security concerns within the area, prompting authorities to urge personnel operating along the axis to exercise increased vigilance while further security assessments are being conducted.

As of the time of filing this report, the motive behind the attack remained unclear, while security agencies were working to identify those responsible and establish the circumstances surrounding the killings.

Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified surveillance and other precautionary measures across the area in a bid to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
