Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly been arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while preparing to board a chartered flight to Abuja.
Sources said the former minister was taken into custody on Wednesday by security operatives at the airport.
According to reports, Nnaji is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for further interrogation over allegations linked to certificate forgery.
The anti-graft agency had reportedly been investigating the former minister since his resignation from office last year after claims emerged that he allegedly falsified his academic credentials.
Although officials are yet to issue a formal statement on the arrest, sources familiar with the development said the ICPC had been tracking the former minister as part of its ongoing investigation into the allegations.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest and the next steps in the investigation remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
