Hundreds of residents have been left stranded after heavy rainfall washed away a major bridge linking Osupa Orile and Ajaawa communities in Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred following a downpour, has disrupted movement between the affected communities, leaving commuters, farmers and traders unable to access their destinations.
Residents said the collapse of the bridge has crippled commercial activities and hindered farming operations, raising concerns over the economic impact on the largely agrarian communities.
Community leaders have appealed to the Oyo State Government to urgently intervene by reconstructing the damaged bridge to restore normal movement and prevent further hardship.
They warned that the continued closure of the route could worsen the challenges facing residents, particularly farmers who depend on the road to transport produce to nearby markets.
The affected communities are now calling for immediate government action to provide a lasting solution and prevent a recurrence of similar incidents during the rainy season.
