Awka – It was another bloody day in Ihiala town  in Anambra State yesterday as gunmen killed three people, apparently for disobeying the sit at home.

While a popular businessman popularly known as Oluebube was killed where his rental company was mounting canopies for a ceremony, two security operatives attached to Ihiala local government council were killed in front of the local government headquarters.

According to an eyewitness, Oluebube   was supervising his workers when the gunmen arrived at the venue and gunned him down. The development made the people around to scamper for safety and the place was immediately deserted.

Elsewhere at the local government headquarters, the chairman, Charles Orjiako expressed sadness over the killing of the security men attached to the local government.

Orjiako said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the gruesome murder of two security personnel and the injury of another in a dastardly attack that occurred today, 30th of December, in front of the Local Government Secretariat, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“We are deeply pained by this senseless killing of our security personnel, who were working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people.

“We condemn this act in its entirety and call on the perpetrators to surrender themselves to the authorities or consider themselves to have murdered sleep, the implication of which is glaring.

“We will not be deterred by this act of violence. We will rather continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people, and we will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

“We stand with the families of our fallen heroes and will do everything in our power to support them during this difficult time,” the Chairman concluded.

The Chairman assured the public that the local government council is working closely with the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators   were brought to justice.

He also called for calm and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
