A Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of two men, Asimiyu Ajimoti and Sulaimon Adetunji, at a correctional center over allegations of stealing iron rods worth N202,000.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft.
The court’s president, S.M. Akintayo, granted them bail at N200,000 each, requiring two reliable sureties who must present valid identity cards and proof of two years’ tax payment to the Oyo State government.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, informed the court that the incident occurred on March 1 around 5:00 p.m. at the University College Hospital (UCH) area in Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendants unlawfully entered the premises of Quedriga Ltd. and stole the iron rods.
The court adjourned the case to April 28 for trial. The charges against the defendants are based on Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Volume II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
