45yr-old Quranic teacher arrested for Killing almajiri student
A 45-year-old Quranic teacher, Musa Wada, has been taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his student, Bashir Adamu, over repeated absences from class.
State police spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest, stating that Wada, a resident of Jikas-Dabaja village, was apprehended on March 13 following a tip-off.
Investigations revealed that the teacher disciplined Adamu for frequently missing lessons, but the punishment led to the boy losing consciousness and ultimately dying.
To hide the crime, Wada allegedly dismembered the child’s body, severing his head and genitalia before dumping the remains by the roadside.
He then buried the detached body parts on his farmland in an attempt to cover up the incident.
The case came to light on March 12 when locals discovered a decomposing, headless body along a roadside in Jikas-Dabaja village.
The discovery was reported to the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters, and further investigation identified the victim as Adamu, one of Wada’s students.
Upon his arrest, Wada reportedly admitted to the crime, and the police have since recovered the victim’s remains.
Authorities have assured that the suspect will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
