A robbery suspect has been arrested by police operatives in Nasarawa State after he and his gang attempted to flee following an armed robbery in Keffi.

Their escape ended in a fatal car crash, leading to multiple casualties.

According to a statement from the state’s police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, officers from the Goshen City Division responded to a distress call in the early hours of March 25, 2025, regarding an armed robbery at a residential area near the stadium in Keffi.

Following the report, Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed instructed officers to track down the suspects, who had already fled the scene.

While attempting to escape in a Toyota Camry with registration number ABC 621 CV, stolen from one Udochi Emeka, the robbers lost control of the vehicle and crashed at Bola Junction on the Keffi-Abuja Expressway.

Police officers arrived at the scene and evacuated the five occupants to Johepz Medical Centre in Kuchikau for emergency care.

Unfortunately, four of them were confirmed dead, while the sole survivor, identified as Hussaini Mohammed, 25, was placed under police watch while receiving treatment.

Further investigations led to the discovery of stolen items, including twelve mobile phones of various brands, wristwatches, two long knives, screwdrivers, assorted charms, and an Access Bank ATM card belonging to Lydia Olabode Kemi.

The police commissioner has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
