Kwankwaso denies plan to defect to APC

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed reports claiming he is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling them false and misleading.

In a post on his official X handle, @KwankwasoRM, the former Kano State governor refuted the allegations and distanced himself from any statement suggesting he had finalized plans to leave the NNPP.

He emphasized that he has deliberately chosen to remain silent on recent political developments.

“My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments.

I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief,” he said.

Kwankwaso also denied authorizing any individual to speak on his behalf, particularly referencing a statement attributed to one Ibrahim Rabiu.

Rabiu, the alleged author of the statement, has since retracted his comments and issued a public apology.

“I was never authorized by Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso to issue and release a statement on his behalf,” he said.

“I apologize for this childish act. I was misled by fake news and agents of misinformation. Please forgive me.”

Kwankwaso urged the public to disregard unauthorized statements and rely only on official sources for accurate information about his political stance.
