The Federal Government has begun a manhunt for seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, after a heavy downpour damaged parts of the facility early Tuesday morning.In a statement issued Tuesday night, spokesperson for the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), DCC Abubakar Umar, said the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on May 20, 2025, allowing the inmates to flee.Following the breach, the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, has ordered a full investigation into how the escape happened.The NCoS is now working with other security agencies and local community leaders to locate and return the escapees.
