Authorities in Maryland, United States, have arrested a Nigerian-American couple, Edward and Wendy Osefo, over alleged involvement in a $200,000 insurance fraud scheme.
According to ABC News, Wendy, a reality television personality, faces 16 charges, including seven felonies, while her husband, Edward, is facing 18 counts, nine of which are felonies.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Westminster said the couple falsely reported a theft at their home while they were on vacation in April 2024.
The pair claimed that about 80 items, including jewelry, luxury accessories, designer clothing, and shoes, were stolen. The reported loss was valued at more than $200,000.
However, investigators later discovered that over $20,000 worth of the allegedly stolen items had been returned by the couple to stores where they were purchased.
The Osefos were released on Friday after each posted a $50,000 bond.
In a statement to ABC News, a representative for the couple said they were “focusing on their family and the ongoing legal process.”olice arrest Nigerian-American reality TV Star, husband for alleged $200,000
