Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered a locally made pistol during an intelligence-led operation in Ore.
The suspects, identified as Monday Akinmusere and Oluwaseun Akinmusere, were apprehended on Saturday, October 11, 2025, following a raid on a mechanic workshop located off Okitipupa Road, Ore.
Police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, said in a statement on Sunday that the operation was carried out by personnel from the Ore Division based on credible intelligence.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer led his team to the location around 5:15 p.m., where the suspects were arrested.
A search of the premises reportedly led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge.
DSP Ayanlade added that the suspects are currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the firearm and identify possible links to other criminal activities in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the officers for their swift response and assured residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to assist the police in maintaining peace and order.
