A 30-year-old farmer, identified as Mohammad Ali Fantami, has been left critically injured after suspected herders attacked him in Jakana village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was disclosed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday.
According to the report, the confrontation began when a group of herders allegedly led their cattle into a beans farm belonging to local residents, allowing the animals to graze on the crops.
Fantami, who hails from Kadamari Lamboa bush, was said to have attempted to drive the cattle away when one of the herders attacked him with a machete, severing his left hand and inflicting deep cuts on his neck before fleeing the scene.
The victim was later rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects as investigations into the attack continue.
