The Administrative Panel of Inquiry set up to probe the crisis in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday commenced its sitting, with 58 memoranda submitted for consideration.
Western Post reports that violence broke out in the community on October 3, 2025, when some youths allegedly attacked the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Bakare, alongside his wife and son, Victor.
At the inaugural sitting in Akure, the chairman of the panel, Mr Idowu Mafimisebi, called on all parties involved in the crisis to cooperate fully with the inquiry.
Mafimisebi said the panel would sit for six weeks, noting that four weeks had already been devoted to procedural matters, and assured that its work would be guided by fairness and equity.
“Our intention is that we will bring to book whoever is found wanting in all the Shenanigans that led to the crisis at Idogun and of course we will not care whose ox is gored.
“Anybody caught capable will be dealt with accordingly and we will make our recommendations to the government and we urge sons and daughters of the community to be assured that the panel’s recommendations after its proceedings would bring lasting peace to the community,” he said.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, commended the government for establishing the panel to address grievances among different interest groups in Idogun.
Ajanaku, an indigene of the community, urged members of the panel to consider all memoranda objectively to ensure justice.
He also appealed to residents to embrace unity and work together as a team for the development and lasting peace of the community.
