Govt arrests popular Bishop over alleged abuse of two sisters

The Edo State Government has confirmed the arrest of the founder of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry, Bishop Gideon Osazee, over allegations of sexual abuse involving two biological sisters said to be minors.

The sisters, aged 13 and 17, were reportedly victims in the case, while authorities disclosed that four other young females have also lodged similar complaints against the cleric.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Eugene Abdullah, said more children linked to the church had reported experiences of sexual harassment allegedly involving the suspect.

Also commenting, Faith Edebor of the Vivian Sexual Assault Referral Centre noted that preliminary investigations by relevant agencies supported key aspects of the accounts given by the complainants.

However, the cleric denied the allegations, insisting that he had no sexual involvement with minors, though he claimed to have had a consensual relationship with the older of the two sisters.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing as statements are being taken and further evidence gathered to determine the next line of action. aimed at ensuring his arrest.
