Saudi authorities have announced that the crescent moon for Shawwal 1447 AH was not sighted on Wednesday, confirming that Ramadan will run its full 30 days this year.
Muslims across the kingdom are therefore expected to complete the final day of fasting on Thursday, with Eid el-Fitr celebrations beginning on Friday, March 20, 2026.
The decision follows the customary moon-sighting procedure, which determines the official end of Ramadan and the start of the new Islamic month.
Eid el-Fitr marks the conclusion of the holy month of fasting and is observed globally with prayers, communal feasts, and acts of charity, as families and communities come together in celebration.
