Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects and recovered a vehicle stolen during a robbery attack at a hotel in Atan Ota area of the state.
The police said the breakthrough followed sustained investigations by the anti-robbery unit, which tracked and recovered the stolen Toyota Matrix in Lagos, nearly two months after the incident.
The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the robbery occurred in the early hours of February 18, 2026, when hoodlums invaded De-Ultimate Hotel located along Sokoto/Badagry Road.
According to him, the attackers dispossessed a victim, identified as Joseph Bankole, and hotel staff of valuables, including the unregistered vehicle, mobile phones and other personal belongings.
“Following the report, operatives of the Anti-Robbery Unit, State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, led by SP Gbenga Ayodele, commenced a discreet investigation which led to the recovery of the stolen Toyota Matrix in Lagos on April 15, 2026,” the statement read.
Babaseyi added that two car dealers were apprehended in connection with the stolen vehicle, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the robbery gang.
He noted that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The police reiterated their commitment to curbing criminal activities across the state, assuring residents that those behind the crime would be brought to justice.
