A group of aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat has dissociated itself from any alleged endorsement arrangement ahead of the party’s primary election.
The aspirants, in a communiqué jointly signed by Hon. Ade Adeniyi, Otunba Bola Fisayo, Dr Michael Ajilo and Dr Hon. Jibayo Adeyeye, declared that none of them was part of any consensus deal purportedly reached to endorse a candidate for the constituency.
They stated that all the signatories were bonafide members of the APC who had duly obtained expression of interest and nomination forms to participate in the forthcoming primary election.
The aspirants noted that their decision to clarify their position became necessary amid speculations surrounding moves to adopt a sole candidate for the contest.
They stressed that the people of Ondo East and Ondo West deserved credible representation at the National Assembly, describing poor representation as a major concern among constituents.
According to the communiqué, the aspirants said they were fully aware of the yearnings of the people and had presented themselves as credible alternatives capable of providing quality representation.
“We are not part of any consensus arrangements leading to the endorsement of any candidate for our constituency,” the statement read.
The aspirants, however, disclosed that discussions were ongoing among them and expressed optimism that a consensus decision could still emerge in due course.
They assured party members and constituents that their collective resolve was to ensure effective representation, adding that their intervention signalled “renewed hope” for the constituency.
