Workers and visitors at the Old Government House in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, were thrown into panic on Monday after a stray dog unexpectedly entered the premises, disrupting activities and triggering a brief commotion.
Eyewitnesses said the animal, described as aggressive-looking, wandered into the Government House complex located along Ogoja Road during working hours, causing fear among staff members and visitors.
The unexpected appearance of the dog reportedly forced several workers to abandon their duties temporarily as they hurried to safer locations, while others made efforts to track and contain the animal.
Sources within the Government House disclosed that the owner of the dog had yet to be identified, noting that the animal appeared confused and was moving around the premises in an apparent attempt to find its way out.
The incident briefly interrupted routine official activities within the complex, although no injuries were reported.
Officials were said to have commenced efforts to safely remove the dog from the premises and restore normal operations.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to confirm whether the animal had been successfully evacuated from the Government House environment.
