The University of Calabar has suspended nine students over allegations bordering on examination malpractice and submission of falsified academic credentials. The decision was conveyed in a statement signed by the institution’s Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha, following deliberations at the 252nd meeting of the university’s Senate. According to the registrar, the action was taken after the Senate considered reports presented by its Ad-Hoc Committee on Examination Malpractice as well as the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the killing of a farmer following an attack by suspected gunmen along Agunla Farm Road in Ayede-Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. A 300-level medical student of the University of Ibadan (UI) reportedly lost his life on Sunday night after consuming an insecticide, according to officials at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. It was gathered that the student was discovered on the ground floor of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall by a fellow resident, who found him foaming at the mouth and disoriented.
