The inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, says a notorious kidnap kingpin was killed, and two abductors were arrested during an operation to rescue the 20 abducted medical students. Speaking while handing over the students to their vice-chancellors in Abuja on Sunday, Mr Egbetokun added that the arrested suspects were in custody. The 20 medical students were on August 15 abducted in Benue while in transit to Enugu. The Nigerian Navy in furtherance of Operation Delta Sanity to combat crude oil theft in the Nigerian Delta has destroyed 14 illegal refinery sites, nine boats and recovered several thousands of stolen litres of crude and related products. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a businessman who allegedly excreted 68 wraps of cocaine at the local wings of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos. Some customers of various banks have decried the financial institutions’ continuous arbitrary debit of their money. In separate interviews on Sunday in Abuja, the bank customers said the move negated the financial inclusion initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Claudia Albert, a customer with Sterling Bank, said the bank had debited about N6,000 from her account this month. The Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has charged Nigerian youths to acquire vocational skills as a means to equip themselves against the unemployment challenges.
