The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) rescued three persons alive from the rubbles of a collapsed four-storey building in Abuja on Monday. FEMD acting director-general Florence Wenegieme, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said that no life was lost to the incident. Ms Wenegieme explained that the collapsed building was located at 23 Nkwere Street, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Area 11, Garki, FCT. The police command in Akwa Ibom has confirmed the abduction of Benjamin Unwuka, a businessman in the Eket LGA. ASP Timfon John, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the incident on Tuesday in Eket. The Ogun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 35 people died in 49 road crashes in Ogun between June 1 and June 27. Sector commander Anthony Uga gave the figure in an interview on Tuesday in Ota, Ogun. Mr Uga also said that 146 persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the road crashes.
