Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has denied social media reports that he has concluded plans to drag his predecessor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Governor Akeredolu said he never threatened to expose Mimiko, whom he described as a friend of over four decades to the EFCC. Akeredolu said the reports were untrue, puerile and utterly mischievous. Fire gutted a foam market in the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State on Saturday. The incident happened around 1pm at 16, Ladipo Street in Mushin, said Spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor. He added that first responders including LASEMA operatives have been deployed in the scene to prevent the fire from escalating to adjoining buildings. The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, his daughter and three of his aides have tested negative to COVID-19. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state on July 4, announced that the governor had tested positive to COVID-19 but will still be working from isolation. The Federal Government on Friday took delivery of the second batch of medical supplies worth N26bn from the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN). The supplies, which will further boost the country’s fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and provide the much needed protection, especially for frontline health workers, were purchased with UN Basket Fund for COVID-19 response.
