PLANS are underway by the Oyo State government to establish model technical colleges beginning from 2021 as part of efforts to improve technical education. A new curriculum will also be developed to improve learning in public primary schools across the state. Many governors on Wednesday signed revised 2020 budgets into law. The new budgets nullified those earlier approved by the Houses of Assembly and signed into law by the state chief executives. Economic downturn occasioned by the global COVID-19 pandemic led to the changes in the year’s budgets so that governments could embark on more realistic implementation. Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi signed N146,374,641,080.00 into law as against the earlier approved budget of N169,557,658,300.00. This represents 13.67 per cent reduction in the initial budget size. In Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong signed N122,848,822,913.00 into law to replace the initial N177,340,521,174.00 budget.…

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday announced that schools would resume on August 4 in the state for final year students in Senior Secondary School 3 private and public schools. Abiodun also said religious centres would be reopened tentatively on August 14. The convoy of Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, was attacked at Baga, a town in the state, on Wednesday. A security source told TheCable that the governor was on his way to some internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the northern part of Borno when the incident happened. “The governor went to Kukawa, and on his way to Baga his convoy was attacked.
