Over 100 pregnant women at the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital were given delivery packs by the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden.

Speaking during the distribution at the weekend, the District Governor, Rotary Club District 9111, Dr Wole Kukoyi, encouraged pregnant women to pay attention to their health and listen to nurses’ health tips.

The beneficiaries of the delivery kits were registered pregnant women at the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital.

Kukoyi said, “We are on an official visit to the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden to see the signature project erected at the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, a neonatal centre. At Rotary, we have specific projects, and maternal health is one of them

“The women will be given health talks and some gifts sponsored by the Rotary Club. We have launched billboards on mental health. There are 100 beneficiaries. Health is wealth, take care of your health, prevent malaria to be healthy, and do regular checkups at the health centres. Listen to health tips from nurses. Pregnancy is not a disease; it is a thing of joy.”

The president, Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, Jide Ogunleye, said, “We have adopted this hospital for the past 16 years. We have donated incubators. We decided to build this building to accommodate more incubators, and we are here to distribute some kits to pregnant women.”

A matron in the hospital, Hannah Adetomiwa, advised the women to eat well and get reliable persons who would help them with delivery errands.

You need to get your baby things on time; we know the economy is unfriendly. You need to begin to keep aside the things you are bringing to the hospital and some money for delivery. You need to keep these aside or contribute towards it.”

The women were given a big delivery bag, Nightingale, diapers, and pegs, to mention a few.

One of the beneficiaries, Tina Smith, appreciated the club for their kind gestures, saying, “I am very happy to be here. We were all given delivery packs, and the bags were big and of high quality. Very suitable for packing delivery items to the labour room.” (PUNCH)
