The alleged offence was committed in Ogo Oluwa Local Government of Oyo State.

But, the Chairman of Ogo Oluwa Local Government, Hon. Adeboye Ojo said efforts were in top gear to settle the case amicably.

The monarch was arraigned on a two-count charge that borders on forgery and felony.

According to the charge sheet marked MI/145C/2025, Oba Oyetunji was charged for allegedly conspiring with others to commit the offence.

One of the charges levelled against Adeyeye Oyetunji and others now at large is that “on the 11th day of June 2020, at Ajaawa town, in Ogbomoso Magisterial district triable in Ibadan Magisterial district did conspire with one another to commit felony to with; forgery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code, cap 38, volume 11, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2020.

Count two read, “Thompson Adeyeye Oyetunji and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district did unlawfully forge the signature of one Prince Azeez Oyewale Oyebunmi on a letter titled “Withdrawal from the vacant stool of Alajaawa race” dated 11th June 2020 and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 465 and punishable under section 467 of the criminal code, cap 38, volume 11, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2020.”

The king pleaded not guilty when his plea was taken before Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi.

The counsel to the accused, Barrister O.K Animashaun urged the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms. And counsel to the prosecution, N Ojei did not oppose the bail application.

He told the court that he would call three witnesses which include, Prince Azeez Oyewale Oyebunmi, Prince Gideon Adeboye Oyekunle and Investigating Police Officer to prove his case.

Barrister A O Oloyede who holds briefs for Princes Oyebunmi and Oyekunle did not oppose the bail application.

Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi therefore granted the accused person bail in the sum of five hundred thousand (N500,000) with one surety in the like sum.

Chief Magistrate Ogunkanmi adjourned the case to 22nd July 2025 for a hearing.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ogo Oluwa Local Government, Hon. Adeboye Ojo said, “we have been holding meetings with parties in this case. Tomorrow, we are going to hold another meeting. By the special Grace of God, we shall soon settle the case out of court.”
