The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has inaugurated 50 new commissioners to strengthen Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution framework.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Edun emphasized that the appointments reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and efficient tax adjudication system. He urged the newly appointed commissioners to uphold principles of equity, transparency, and dedication in their roles.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the media aide of newly appointed commissioner Okide Ezigbo, Godwin Oritshe, Ezigbo pledged to serve with integrity and accountability.

The Tax Appeal Tribunal, established under Section 59 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, is responsible for resolving tax-related disputes across the country.

Ezigbo, a legal expert from Anambra State, brings over 22 years of experience to the tribunal. He previously practiced law at Funke Adekoya SAN Chambers in Yaba and Aelex Law Firm in Ikoyi.

The new appointments are expected to enhance the efficiency of Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution system, fostering greater confidence in the country’s fiscal policies.
