Governor Eno condemns media speculation over EFCC probe of ex-Governor Emmanuel

UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has criticized what he described as a media trial surrounding the recent interrogation of former Governor Udom Emmanuel by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking during a Town Hall meeting with residents of Abak Federal Constituency at Abak Township Stadium on Saturday, Governor Eno dismissed claims of N700 billion misappropriation allegedly linked to his predecessor, describing the reports as baseless and unfounded.

He stressed that such figures were not known to his administration and warned against attempts to undermine the integrity of leaders who have served the state.

“When a man has served his state meritoriously, as Deacon Udom Emmanuel did, he deserves to be honored and respected,” Eno stated.

“I see no reason for the kind of information being circulated. It’s inaccurate, and it should not continue. As the sitting governor, I can confidently say those figures are not true. This media trial must end, and these unfounded claims should be dismissed.”

Former Governor Udom Emmanuel had appeared at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday in response to a petition filed against him by the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking.
