The remains of a one-time acting Chief Judge of Old Ondo state, Justice Edward Ojuolape, has been laid to rest in his country home of Ogotun Ekiti, Ekiti state, on Friday.

Speaking at the funeral service at Saint Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Ogotun Ekiti, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, described the late Ojuolape as an incorruptible judge, who had so much respect for the rule of law.

“Justice Ojuolape was deeply committed to the rule of law, which he applied fairly to ensure equal justice for the meek as well as the mighty in the society” He said.

The governor acknowledged the contribution of the late judge to the legal profession by upholding the ethical standards.

“His entire legal career as an eminent jurist and a distinguished judge can be characterized as a legacy of openness, confidentiality and moral standards.

“He will certainly be remembered as one of the most consequential judges and thinkers in our land” the governor eulogized Justice Ojuolape

The governor also praised the late judge for his contributions to the development of Ekiti and Ondo states, where he practiced for many years

Addressing the congregation, Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, said the late Judge lived for others and had a great impact in his community of Ogotun Ekiti.

He further described the late judge as a man who has left a mark on the sands of time, urging the judiciary to carry on with his legacy of fairness.

In his sermon, Emeritus Bishop Michael Ipinmoye said the late judge was a God-fearing man, who positively touched the lives of many until his last day on earth.

The funeral service was attended by a wide spectrum of dignitaries, top government officials, legal practitioners and clergymen from Ondo and Ekiti states and across the country.
