BREAKING: BRT driver sentenced to death for murder of Oluwabamise Ayanwola
A Lagos State High Court has sentenced BRT driver Andrew Ominikoron to death by hanging for the murder of 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwola.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike delivered the verdict at the Tafawa Balewa Square annex on Friday, ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Ominikoron faced a five-count charge, including murder, rape, and conspiracy.
The case also involved the sexual assault of Dr. Anosike Victoria and the rape of Maryland Ojiezelu.
The ruling brings an end to a highly publicized trial that began after Ayanwola went missing in a BRT bus in 2022 and was later found dead.
