BREAKING: Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Prices by N15 Nationwide

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a nationwide reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), lowering rates by N15 per litre across all regions.

According to an update shared on the refinery’s official social media channels on Thursday, the new price now ranges between N875 and N905 per litre, depending on location. The revised rates apply to all major fuel marketers in partnership with the refinery, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.

Previously, petrol was sold for N890 per litre in Lagos and up to N920 in the North-East and South-South regions. Under the new pricing structure, Lagos residents will now pay N875 per litre, while those in the North-East and South-South will pay N905.

A regional breakdown of the updated prices is as follows:

Lagos: N875

South-West: N885

North-West & Central: N895

North-East and South-South/South-East: N905

The refinery encouraged consumers to purchase fuel only from approved outlets and to report any cases of non-compliance through its official helplines: +234 707 470 2099 and +234 707 470 2100.

“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for better engine performance and environmental friendliness,” the company stated.

The price cut follows the reinstatement of a refund benefit program introduced earlier in the week for customers.

It also comes shortly after reports that independent oil marketers have resumed large-scale petrol imports, with over 496 million litres brought into the country between May 11 and 20, 2025.

Tanker movement data from Blue Sea Maritime revealed that 370,000 metric tonnes of petrol were discharged at various depots nationwide during this period.

The refinery attributed the price reduction to its naira-for-crude exchange arrangement, which has helped lower production costs.

The company’s affirmed that it remains committed to ensuring stable and affordable petrol prices, despite ongoing fluctuations in global crude oil markets.

In a statement signed by Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery reiterated its support for the Nigerian economy and its goal of easing the financial burden on consumers.
