The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a strong warning to motorists against offering bribes to its officers, stressing that traffic fines must be paid through designated banking channels.
This was stated by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, in a statement released on Tuesday by the FRSC’s Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
Mohammed cautioned road users to refrain from attempting to bribe FRSC operatives when apprehended for traffic offences.
He noted that any motorist found engaging in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted.
“The Corps does not, and will not, tolerate any form of corruption. Offering bribes violates the FRSC’s Establishment Act of 2007 and goes against our core values,” Mohammed stated.
He emphasised that all fines issued during patrols must be paid through official bank channels into the government’s Treasury Single Account—not to individual officers.
The Corps Marshal also warned FRSC personnel against soliciting or accepting bribes, urging members of the public to report any officer found engaging in such misconduct.
“Bribery is strictly against our operational guidelines,” he said, encouraging Nigerians to report erring officers through the FRSC’s official email ([email protected]), the FRSC Mobile App, or the Flag-It anti-corruption app.
Reports can also be submitted via the Corps’ social media platforms on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube under the handle @FRSCNigeria.
Mohammed praised citizens who report misconduct through appropriate channels, describing them as vital partners in the effort to promote discipline on the roads.
He further urged all road users to comply with traffic regulations governing the movement of people, animals, and goods across Nigeria.
