28yr-old final year student commits suicide in Ondo

Arobo Precious, a 28-year-old final-year student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), has reportedly taken his own life in a tragic incident that has left the community in shock.

Precious, a Higher National Diploma (HND) II student, was found dead on Sunday night in a bush near his residence in Owo, Ondo State. Sources say his death appears to be linked to emotional distress stemming from a troubled relationship.

Before the incident, Precious reportedly shared a video on social media, hinting at his emotional state.

The video, now viral, included a caption that read: “Eniayewu Opeyemi was the one who got me into this. People say there is still life out there, but to me, there is nothing anymore.”

A source who spoke to The Hope Metro on condition of anonymity confirmed that the young man has since been buried, with his grieving family struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“Precious was a good person,” the source said. “His parents are devastated. It’s a very painful loss.”

The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about mental health awareness and emotional support for students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
