Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and other key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently holding a crucial closed-door meeting in Abuja as part of ongoing efforts to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The high-level meeting is taking place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and is centered on building a political alliance to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential race.

Among the PDP heavyweights in attendance are former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, former PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus, and ex-governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi).

Sources at the venue disclosed that the meeting, chaired by David Mark, is focused on whether PDP leaders should fully merge with the emerging coalition party or retain their positions within the PDP while forging a broader electoral alliance.

Earlier reports indicated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been selected as the coalition’s political platform, with Senator Mark chosen to serve as interim chairman. A formal unveiling is expected on Wednesday.

Other notable PDP figures present include Senator Ben Obi, former PDP Women Leader Josephine Anenih, ex-Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, former Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira.
