The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended three suspects in connection with an armed robbery incident in Katoge Village, Kazaure Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday in Dutse.
He attributed the successful operation to credible intelligence and the swift response of officers from the Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, working in collaboration with Operation Salama, local vigilantes, and community neighbourhood watch groups.
The suspects were arrested around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, shortly after allegedly terrorising residents and stealing valuables from homes in Katoge Village.
During the operation, police recovered several items believed to be stolen.
These include a locally fabricated Dane gun, local ammunition, a motorcycle, a power bank, a mattress, two sheep, and N50,000 in cash.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects conspired to break into three homes in the Katoge Quarters area, carting away personal belongings.
“The timely intervention of our officers prevented further harm and potential loss of life.
The suspects are currently in custody and under investigation,” Adam stated.
He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of a thorough investigation.
The police command commended the operatives for their courage and professionalism and encouraged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and reliable information to help combat crime in the state.
