The Rivers State Police Command has declared two top officials of Ahoada East Local Government Area wanted over their alleged involvement in a violent attack on the council’s Sole Administrator, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.
The wanted individuals are the council’s Chief Security Officer, Hector Ekakita, and Chief of Staff, Aloni Olodi. According to the police, both men led a group of about 30 youths who stormed the council secretariat on June 20, 2025, assaulted Iheanachor, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress.
They also reportedly made away with vital documents, mobile phones, and other official and personal items.
Hon. Iheanachor is one of 23 administrators appointed by the State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), to oversee local councils.
The declaration was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who said the suspects are wanted for crimes including criminal conspiracy, stealing, assault occasioning harm, and attempted murder.
Despite receiving an official invitation and public notice to report to the police for questioning, the duo has failed to do so, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, to declare them wanted.
“The Rivers State Police Command has declared Mr. Hector Ekakita and Mr. Aloni Olodi wanted in connection with the violent attack on Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor at the Ahoada East Council Secretariat,” the statement read.
“These individuals, along with about thirty others, allegedly conspired to attack the Sole Administrator, inflicted bodily harm, forcibly obtained his signature, and looted property from his office.”
Iringe-Koko further stated that Iheanachor is still receiving medical treatment for the injuries he sustained.
The Police Commissioner has warned that anyone found aiding or hiding the suspects will face legal consequences.
The public is urged to provide credible information on their whereabouts by contacting the State Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, or calling the police emergency lines.
