A police inspector, Donfa Chirtip, has been killed, and his wife, Victoria, abducted by gunmen in Kurmin Kare, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was disclosed on Saturday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Makama reported that Inspector Chirtip, attached to the Special Protection Unit Base 7 in Abuja, was attacked alongside his wife on Friday while returning from their farm.
According to him, the inspector’s body was later discovered in a nearby farmland with a deep cut to the neck, suggesting he was ambushed and killed. Joint security patrol teams responded to the scene and recovered his remains.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple left for the farm around 7 a.m. on a motorcycle and were likely ambushed by unknown assailants on their way back in the evening,” Makama stated.
The body was taken to Doka General Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed him dead and the remains were deposited in the hospital morgue.
Efforts are ongoing to rescue his abducted wife and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
As of the time of filing this report, attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful. Calls and text messages sent to his phone went unanswered.
