The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday approved a supplementary budget of N299.8 billion, raising the total size of the state’s 2025 appropriation from N684.1 billion to N984 billion.
The approval followed the presentation of the report by the Chairman of the House Committee on Budget, Finance, and Appropriation, Sunkanmi Babalola, during plenary at the Assembly complex in Ibadan.
Babalola, who represents the Egbeda State Constituency, told journalists after the session that the revised budget was necessary to address key financial obligations not accounted for in the original budget passed last year.
He said the additional funds would cover critical expenditures, including the reconstruction of the Government House, payment of outstanding pensions, and the implementation of a new national minimum wage.
“The reality of the state’s financial obligations in the current fiscal year required a reassessment,” Babalola said. “This supplementary appropriation reflects the dynamic nature of governance and the need to respond to emerging priorities.”
Further details of the revised budget are expected to be released in due course.
