Bandits have abducted five nursing mothers and rustled about 50 cows during a fresh attack on Yan Kwada village in Faruruwa, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

The bandits, who reportedly stormed the community on motorcycles around 9pm on Sunday, threw away the victims’ babies and took the women away, leaving the infants crying helplessly.

Chairman of Faruruwa, Yahya Bagobiri, who confirmed the incident, expressed frustration over the incessant attacks despite the deployment of military personnel and other security operatives to the area.

He said: “We continue to see these attacks almost on a daily basis despite the presence of the military and other security agencies.

Even yesterday’s attack, we heard that they were coming and alerted security operatives, but nothing was done until they came around 9pm. They raided houses and whisked away the nursing mothers.”

According to him, one of the kidnapped women later escaped, while four others remain in captivity.

Bagobiri lamented that the attacks have continued unabated, forcing many residents to flee their homes out of fear.

He appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and other security heads to intervene urgently to save the area from total collapse.

“We appreciate the government for deploying troops earlier, but we are calling for reinforcement.

We need more armed personnel to secure our communities,” he said.

Two weeks ago, the military reportedly killed 19 bandits during a raid in the area but lost two soldiers in the encounter.
