Police nab suspected cultist with pistol in military outfit Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested a suspected cult member in Bida, recovering a firearm and military-style clothing during the operation.

The command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed in a statement issued in Minna that the suspect was apprehended by officers attached to the ‘B’ Division while on routine patrol.

Abiodun identified the suspect as Agada Isaac, also known as “Tee-light,” aged 30, who was intercepted near a lodge around the Federal Polytechnic Bida axis while riding a motorcycle.

He explained that the suspect drew the attention of the operatives after abruptly abandoning his motorcycle on sighting the police and attempting to escape. The officers, however, pursued and arrested him.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol, while a follow-up search at his residence yielded additional items, including a military camouflage cap, knicker, and jacket.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to being a member of the Vikings cult group.

He also told investigators that he purchased the firearm from an individual identified as Gideon, popularly known as “Starboy,” said to be based in Suleja, for N300,000.

The suspect, who claimed to work as a campus photographer, further stated that the military apparel found in his possession was given to him by a friend.

Police authorities said the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged arms supplier and other accomplices.
