A combined team of security operatives in Edo State has arrested three suspected kidnappers after they were reportedly identified by victims at Jattu Market in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended during a joint operation involving operatives of the Edo State Police Command, Jattu Division, and the Edo State Security Corps.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Benin on Tuesday.
She identified the suspects as Nura Dahiru, 22; Ibrahim Yakubu, 25; and Abubakar Inusa, 23.
According to Ikoedem, two of the suspects were positively identified by one Mrs Ibrahim Jemila and another victim as members of the gang responsible for their abduction.
The police spokesperson explained that the Divisional Police Officer of Jattu Division received credible intelligence on May 15, 2026, at about 5:50pm that one of the suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of Jemila had been sighted at Jattu Market.
Jemila was reportedly abducted on May 13, 2026, before regaining her freedom days later.
“Acting swiftly on the information, operatives of the division mobilised in collaboration with members of the Edo State Security Corps to the location where three suspects were arrested,” Ikoedem stated.
She added that preliminary investigations revealed that Dahiru and Yakubu were allegedly among the kidnappers identified by the victims.
Ikoedem described the arrest as another major breakthrough recorded by security agencies in the ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes across Edo State.
