A pressure group within the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, the Ondo Progressives Network, has rejected the list of candidates released by the party’s National Working Committee, alleging that it does not reflect the outcome of the party’s primary elections.
The group’s Coordinator, Idowu Falade, made the allegation while addressing journalists in Akure on Monday, insisting that the list published by the APC leadership differed from the authentic results of the Senate and House of Representatives primaries conducted across the state.
Falade alleged that the names contained in the list released by the National Working Committee were inconsistent with those initially announced as winners at the conclusion of the primaries.
He called on the party’s national leadership to withdraw the disputed list and restore what he described as the authentic list of successful candidates.
According to him, reinstating the original results is necessary to uphold fairness, justice and the credibility of the APC’s internal democratic process.
“We reject the list released by the National Working Committee because it does not represent the true outcome of the primary elections. The authentic list of winners that was initially released should be restored in the interest of justice, fairness and the credibility of our party’s internal democratic process,” he said.
Falade urged the APC leadership to review the process that produced the latest list and ensure that candidates who emerged through the primaries are recognised.
He maintained that members of the Ondo Progressives Network remained loyal to the party but would continue to demand transparency and fairness in the selection of its candidates.
The group appealed to the National Working Committee to immediately reverse the disputed list and republish what it described as the genuine results of the primary elections conducted in the state.
