Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has disassociated himself from campaign posters promoting him for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which recently appeared in various parts of Abuja.
In a statement issued Thursday by his media office in Lokoja and signed by Director Michael Ohiare, the posters were dismissed as the handiwork of political mischief makers.
Ohiare expressed shock over reports of the posters, stating that they were part of a continued effort by detractors to tarnish Bello’s image.
“They are at it again, having failed in their many attempts to bring him down,” he said.
He affirmed that those close to Bello are fully aware of his unwavering loyalty to the APC and his solid support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“As a devoted party member, Yahaya Bello has no reason to bypass party processes or pursue ambitions through underhanded means,” Ohiare added.
He clarified that the former governor had not authorised anyone—either directly or indirectly—to produce or distribute any campaign posters on his behalf.
“This isn’t the first time such posters have surfaced, but we can no longer remain silent,” Ohiare said, urging the public to ignore what he described as a calculated attempt to embarrass the former governor.
