A 30-year-old man, Toheeb Ganiyu, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly keeping a gun belonging to his friend in his office.

Ganiyu, whose residential address was not disclosed, was charged with accessory after the fact. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2024 at the Atipe area of Ibadan.

Adegbite alleged that Ganiyu knowingly allowed one Olaoluwa Ogungbade, popularly known as Akube and suspected to be a member of the Aiye confraternity, to keep a firearm in his office.

He said the defendant failed to report the act to the police, despite being aware of his friend’s alleged involvement in cult activities.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 520 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with one surety in like sum.
