The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has unveiled a set of restrictions to guide conduct during the forthcoming Sallah and wedding festivities across the state.

In a statement issued yesterday, the commission listed activities outlawed during the celebrations, warning residents to conduct themselves in line with Islamic principles.

According to the notice, reckless driving by motorists and tricycle operators has been banned, alongside unrestricted mingling between males and females in public gatherings and transport.

The commission also prohibited private conversations between unrelated men and women which it said run contrary to Islamic teachings.

The Hisbah Commander in the state, Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale, appealed for public cooperation, saying adherence to the directives would ensure a peaceful and orderly festive season.

“As the celebrations draw near, the commission remains resolute in safeguarding the values of Islam and ensuring residents observe conduct befitting the season,” Kale said.

He commended residents for their understanding and pledged that Hisbah personnel would continue to work with community stakeholders to maintain decorum during and after the festivities.
