The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the alleged trafficking and sale of an eight-year-old boy for N3m.

The arrest followed intelligence suggesting that a missing child from the state was in the custody of operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abia State.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development on Monday via a post on X, said the child, identified as Jeremiah Bikwo, was recovered on January 14 and placed under protective care.

Jeremiah reportedly told the police that he hailed from Loko in Nasarawa Local Government Area, prompting detectives to trace his roots to Ogobo community in the same LGA.

Makama stated that the investigation widened to Abia State, where officers discovered that the boy had allegedly been sold for N3m, leading to the arrest of suspected traffickers on January 17.

Those apprehended include four Abia residents Chilaka Calista Nneka, 33; Chigbu Cynthia, 36; Michael Ibeh Chioma, 52; and Victoria Ositadinma, 53.

Also detained are two men from Nasarawa — Alhassan Bama, 35, of Ogobo Village, and Jacob Jonah, 38, of Olegefe Village.

Police sources revealed that the suspects had confessed to their roles in the scheme, while efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices believed to be involved in the syndicate.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued child is safe and in protective custody as investigation continues.
